Driving down the Interstate 10 by Palm Springs, you come across the San Gorgonio Pass Wind Farm – a massive 4,000 windmill wind farm which generates enough energy for the Palm Springs area and the entire Coachella Valley. The area is a fantastic site for a wind farm as the pass between the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains is one of the windiest places in California. The largest of the windmills is 150 feet high with blades which are half the length of a football pitch.
