Rigi-Kaltbad
The Rigi Kaltbad Spa, designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, sits high on Mount Rigi with views stretching across Lake Lucerne and the surrounding Alpine peaks.
The bathing complex forms part of the Hotel Rigi Kaltbad and was created to make the most of its extraordinary location. Fed by the mineral-rich waters of the Kaltbad Spring, the Spa blends contemporary architecture with the natural landscape. Floor-to-ceiling glass connects the interior pools to the mountain panorama outside, allowing guests to take in the view while immersed in the warm spring water.
This Switzerland 360 photography project was captured from the Spa’s sun deck, using multiple overlapping images to create a seamless, high-resolution panorama. Shooting in the Alps brings its own challenges, like strong reflections, shifting light, and the need for precision to balance exposure between (at times) snow, sky and lake.
The final 360 image allows viewers to explore the full scene, from the still surface of Lake Lucerne below to the snow-covered summits beyond. The result is a detailed, immersive image that captures both the design of Mario Botta’s architecture and the wider Alpine environment that defines it.
