Canary Wharf is London’s second financial district, located in West India Docks, a few miles from the City of London. Its skyline has become as iconic as that of the City with many of its skyscrapers featuring in the UK’s tallest list.
Before the completion of the Shard in 2010, One Canada Square in Canary Wharf was the tallest building in the United Kingdom, a title it had held for 20 years. Home to many major financial institutions Canary Wharf has expanded over the years and is now home to almost 100,00 workers. Many major construction projects are ongoing on the site, Hertsmere Tower is a planned residential development of a 74-storey skyscraper.
Canary Wharf was built on the old West India Docks in the Isle of Dogs.
