  • Rays Over London Panorama

    Rays Over London Panorama

A dramatic panorama of London, looking up the River Thames past Waterloo Bridge, Hungerford Bridge towards Westminster. The Sun’s rays are bursting through a stormy sky, illuminating many of London’s well known landmarks. These rays are known as crepuscular and often appear in conjunction with stratocumulus storm clouds.

Visible in the panorama is the London Eye, Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament, Battersea Power Station and more beyond. Zoom in and you can see BT Tower, Centre Point and even Wembley Stadium in the far distance.

  • Trafalgar Square Twilight Panorama

    Trafalgar Square Twilight Panorama

Trafalgar Square at twilight is one of London’s defining views. This high-resolution panorama captures the moment the lights come on across the square: Nelson’s Column and the Landseer lions illuminated against a darkening sky, the fountains catching the last of the day, and the grand facades of the National Gallery, Canada House and South Africa House coming alive with warm light. St Martin-in-the-Fields and the London Coliseum (home of the English National Opera) complete the scene.

The image was captured from an elevated position to give a sweeping, architectural view across the square rather than the usual street-level perspective. At this resolution, individual figures, architectural details and the interplay of artificial and natural light can all be explored in close detail.

The full-resolution file is well suited to large-scale print, exhibition, or commercial use. It has been printed at several metres wide for display purposes.

Some south London landmarks can be seen including Battersea Power Station, Waterloo Station and the BFI Imax, and the front of the Imperial War Museum between the trees. View at fullscreen and zoom in to see the detail and you will pick out many more London sights including Somerset House, Shellmex, Charing Cross Station and the Coliseum. There’s a hot air balloon over Battersea Power Station which you’ll see on the close-up view.

  • Battersea Power Station Control Room

    Battersea Power Station Control Room

This 360 allows you to explore inside the Battersea Power Station Control Room. The decommissioned 1930’s power station is an incredible example of Art Deco architecture and getting the chance to explore inside this building was an exciting experience for me. The dials you can see inside the control room were all still beautifully solid. Click here to see the control room in use in 1953 (image on Flickr).

I hope you enjoy checking out this rare glimpse inside Battersea Power Station as much as I enjoyed shooting it.

  • Pudong View, Shanghai

Looking to the far left of the panorama you can zoom in to see the French Concession. The Bund is on the far side of the Huangpu River in the middle of the panorama. This image was captured in the summer of 2012.

  • Greenwich View Twilight

    Greenwich View Twilight

A Twilight gigapixel panorama shot from Greenwich looking towards Canary Wharf with the City of London in the distance. The River Thames flows past the Millennium Dome (the O2) with the many skyscrapers of Canary Wharf, including one Canada Square, towering above the river. Further into the distance you can see the iconic structures of the City including the Gherkin and Tower 42 and also the Shard can be seen just appearing above the skyline of Canary Wharf.

  • Into The City

    Into The City

Here you can really look into the City – the panorama is incredibly high resolution so whilst you can stay panned back to take in the views over the Barbican to the Heron Tower, Tower 42, The Gherkin at St Mary Axe, the new Rothschilds Bank HQ at St Swithin’s Lane and the Shard, go fullscreen and zoom in to really take in the life of the city. The banks of screens on the trading floors, the people in meetings, at their desks or getting ready to go home.

  • View from the Docks Gigapixel Panorama

View from the Docks Gigapixel Panorama

This image was shot as part of a commission for the cable car across the Thames, the Emirates Air Line. It was captured near Royal Victoria Docks and takes in a huge view across South and East London, and distant landmarks like the QEII Bridge at Dartford.

You can zoom in and explore in detail as the image is incredibly high resolution. The viewer has the opportunity to explore some less seen landmarks, like the incredible but sadly decayed Millennium Mills, an icon of industrial Britain from the docks’ days as the centre of Britain’s flour milling industry. Other landmarks in the area are the Olympic Stadium, Tate & Lyle’s Silvertown Sugar Refinery, the Thames Barrier, ExCel and London City Airport. The Olympic rings floating on a pontoon in the Royal Docks welcome visitors to London at the Airport.

Looking South you can see the Greenwich Observatory, Old Royal Naval College, the imposing chimneys of the 1910 Greenwich Power Station (still a back-up electricity source for the London Underground), Charlton Athletic’s football stadium and in the distance, Crystal Palace.

Dominating the skyline in the evening sun is Canary Wharf with the Shard just visible behind it, and further into the distance, the City with the Gherkin instantly recognisable.

Please view at fullscreen for the best viewing experience and use your mouse or the buttons to zoom in and see the detail.

  • London Stilled in Evening

    London Stilled in Evening

London’s brief stillness in the minutes after rush hour has ended before the evening’s activity truly begins. The panorama takes in most of London’s major landmarks from The Shard to Canary Wharf, The City of London with St Paul’s Cathedral, with the Thames dividing the city and the Tate Tower bisecting the image.

  • Twilight view from the Shard

The River Thames sweeps past the illuminated City of London from Tower Bridge past London Bridge to Millennium Bridge and beyond. Many of London’s landmarks are visible in the cityscape, from Canary Wharf to the towering City of London skyscrapers, Tower 42 and the Gherkin, past St Paul’s Cathedral to Centre Point with the BT Tower in the distance.

    Landrover Discovery: 360 Car Interior

A recent commission for Land Rover’s ‘Been Anywhere Interesting Lately?’ campaign found me shooting 360s inside the stunning new Land Rover Discovery 4. It was fantastic to have the opportunity to shoot such an iconic 4×4 in its latest incarnation. The Discovery is seen in a desert, a jungle and on a mountain, illustrating the vehicle’s off-road abilities in all terrains.

You can see more examples on our car interior 360 portfolio page.

  • Gigapixel 360 Panorama from the Shard

Gigapixel 360 Panorama from the Shard

This is a 360 gigapixel panorama which I shot from the crane at the top of the Shard, London Bridge while it was still under construction.

At the time of its opening, The Shard was the tallest building in the European Union. As at 2025, it’s the second tallest (outside Russia), beaten only by the Varso Tower in Warsaw – and only by half a metre! It’s comprised of 72 stories, and is 309m tall. The viewing gallery opened to the public in 2013. The building was designed by Renzo Piano.

Most of London and beyond is visible in this Gigapixel image, from the skyscrapers of the City of London and Canary Wharf, the many bridges crossing the River Thames to the distant arch of Wembley Stadium.

I was lucky enough to be commissioned to shoot the views from the Shard while it was under construction, before the views at this height were glazed in. It was slightly nerve-wracking climbing up the various platforms and onto the crane, laden down with camera gear – you can read more about this shoot in The Times who reported on it at the time.

  • Shard London Bridge Summit

    Shard London Bridge Summit

This 360 image was captured at the top of the Shard London Bridge, 310m above London, on the night of the student protests in November 2010. You can see the police helicopters hovering over London above the demonstration. Technically this was a very difficult shoot, I was on the crane at the top of the Shard, and I had to wave at Andy the crane driver so he knew when he could rotate 45 degrees between the exposures. The temperatures were well below freezing and if you look in the distance behind Canary Wharf you will see the snow on the hills. Technically this image is not perfect but I find it fascinating nonetheless.

This image is available as a print, click here for more info.

  • London In Detail

  • Shard View at Night Panorama

    Shard View at Night Panorama

I captured this panorama of the London skyline at night from the Shard at around the 35th floor, whilst the building was still under construction. The Shard’s height has given me the opportunity to show the London cityscape from a new angle, looking down on the Thames as it snakes through the city from London Bridge past Southwark Bridge, Millennium Bridge and on towards Blackfriars Bridge.

  • The Shard London Bridge – Blue Hour

The Shard London Bridge – Blue Hour

The Shard is one of London’s most exciting buildings. It was completed in 2012, then becoming the tallest building in the European Union.

I shot views from the Shard for the developer, and the sheer height of the building has made it one of the most exciting series of cityscapes I have worked on – giving a new perspective on London from a massive height. The resolution of the image is huge allowing the viewer to zoom in and see the detail, please view at ‘FULLSCREEN’.

  • The Birds, Trafalgar Square

    The Birds, Trafalgar Square

Pigeons have enormous fields of vision – they can see 340-degrees around without moving, thanks to their side-mounted eyes. The peripheral vision of each eye is so great that the two visual fields overlap, giving the pigeon a binocular field of 24-degrees when it looks straight ahead. Trafalgar square celebrates the famous naval victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. More recently it has been host to a battle of a different nature: Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone versus the pigeons. Ken has employed a mob of hawks to circle the square and scare away the pigeons. In fact, in 2004 he spent 105,000 GBP on a hawk to chase them from the Square and a further 30,000 GBP was spent in undertaking a scientific study to make sure that the pigeons were not being harmed. This panorama was taken in August 2005 – they don’t yet seem to have got the message that they’re not welcome!

  • Hampstead Heath Views – London Panorama

Hampstead Heath Views – London Panorama

I’m fortunate to live within easy reach of Hampstead Heath – a 790 acre stretch of land where the view over London is protected by law! The height of the Heath makes it a great place to capture London’s landmark buildings from a distance. This view includes the Gherkin (St Mary Axe), Tower 42, The London Eye, the BT Telecom Tower, St Paul’s Cathedral and The Shard – still under construction but already playing a massive part on the London skyline.

The resolution of this panorama means that you can zoom right in to see the buildings at closer quarters. The image below gives you an impression of the scale of the image and how much you can zoom in to view the detail on the trees and on London itself.
