Millennium Wheel

On its completion in 1999, standing 135 metres tall, the Millennium Wheel (now known as the London Eye) was the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. It has since been surpassed by a number of newer wheels in China and Singapore. Standing on the South Bank of the River Thames the wheel has become London’s most popular tourist attraction, offering the public unrivalled views of the City, until the opening of The Shard’s viewing platform in 2013. It has become one of London’s iconic structures, a symbol of a city moving into the new millennium.
